Celebrating Halloween and building traditions aren’t just for kids or families but for employees and co-workers as well. A holiday celebration builds positive morale which results in increased employee motivation. It’s a great time to take a break out of busy schedules, treat the staff, and have a little fun!
If you are struggling for ideas, here are a few hauntingly solid suggestions to get your office bonding, laughing, and enjoying a fun filled Halloween at the office.
Costumes.
Give everyone the opportunity to get creative, be whoever they want for a day, and most importantly- get out of their day to day work attire. Add an extra incentive for them to get into it by hosting a contest. Give out prizes for best costume (single and group), most original, funniest, scariest, most authentic, etc.
Decorate the office.
People love decorating their homes for the holidays, why should the office be any different?! Offer prizes for best and most festively decorated work area. This can be an individual prize for the most haunted cubicle or it can be a team effort.
Play Halloween music.
Blast a Halloween play list. Out loud or through your headphones. Monster Mash and Thriller are key classics to get anyone in the Halloween spirit!
Make it a marathon.
Play Halloween classics! (Alfred Hitchcock, Steven King novel adaptations) Or, if you are feeling something lighter, play every Halloween episode of The Office for everyone to enjoy.
Treats.
Everyone bring lots of candy and sweets to share! (I hear the calories don’t count when it’s a holiday).
Halloween potluck.
Start a sign-up sheet for everyone to put down their favorite festive food they plan to bring. It can be a breakfast, lunch, or both!
Office games.
Everyone loves some friendly competition. Start a trivia game, Halloween joke rally, bob for apples, or host a pumpkin carving contest.
