End of The Year Bonus Your Employees Actually Want

As the holiday approaches, most companies are getting ready to gift out end of the year bonuses. Most companies believe that end of the year bonuses count as the recognition that their employees deserve. But, us at AMPT know that that an end of the year bonus isn’t all that important to your employees. What’s more important, and cheaper, to your employees is on-going effort recognition.

As 2017 comes to an end think about all of the money you spent on gifts that your employees don’t actually want. Do your employees really need another coffee mug or computer bag? No, they definitely don’t. Now, think about all of the money you pour into those holiday bonuses. If you think about how much your employees do throughout the year, how much value they bring to your company, and how little they get recognized for it, do you really think that one salary bonus is enough?

It’s not enough.

Your employees deserve more than just a small salary bonus once a year. In fact, most of your employees would rather have on-going effort recognition than a small bonus. A bonus shows them that there is a price tag, a small price tag, on them and their work. It shows them that their value in the company and their skill set is only worth X amount. On-going recognition shows them, in their moment of greatness, just how valued they really are within the company.

Recognition no longer puts a small price tag on someone’s capabilities. Recognition puts an infinite amount of praise on someone’s capabilities and efforts, which comes at no cost. While you’re getting ready to gift a pointless work gift or signing those small Christmas bonuses, think about what your employees really deserve this holiday season… Recognition. Showing off your employees’ moments of greatness and expressing their value to the company is one of the best gifts of all.

This New Year, put an end to those pointless gifts and add extra value to those end of the year bonuses by adding recognition to your 2018 business plan.
